About Oakwood, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in Montgomery County, Oakwood is an Ohio city situated in the southeastern portion of the Dayton metro area. According to the 2010 United States Census, the city has a population of about 9,000. Oakwood was incorporated as a city in 1908.

Before the Great Dayton Flood, Oakwood primarily consisted of farmland. It was not until after the disastrous flood devastated much of downtown Dayton that Oakwood began to develop. Advertisements stating that Oakwood sat much higher than Dayton and that the area was more protected from flooding began to direct people towards Oakwood and the city saw a major increase in its population.

Oakwood has many notable attractions that will be of interest to both visitors and residents. Located on Park Avenue, the Shops of Oakwood offer many different dining and shopping opportunities. Also, Orville Wright’s home, Hawthorn Hill, is located in Oakwood on the corner of Harman and Park Avenue.

Oakwood has a very impressive school system. The schools located within the city’s district have repeatedly been ranked among the best in Ohio and the nation.

Weather in Oakwood tends to vary greatly depending on the season. Winters in the city are often very cold and see plenty of snow. The month of January has an average of 10 inches of snow per year. It will be important for individuals to have their heating systems inspected by a professional to ensure they are prepared to last through the long winters that Oakwood experiences.

Summers in the city are usually mild. Daytime temperatures in the city average in the 80s and dip into the low-60s at night. However, historic temperatures have reached into the 100s. Residents will find it necessary to invest in an efficient cooling system to keep indoor temperatures comfortable during the warmer months of the year.
